Research lineage

Built on 15 years of music science.

Antescofo Platform is built on research that started at IRCAM - Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique, Centre Pompidou, Paris - one of the world's foremost music technology institutions. What began as a scientific system for live concert performance is now a licensable infrastructure stack for any product that needs to interact with music in real time.

Where it started

From IRCAM to product.

The Antescofo score-following system was developed at IRCAM starting in 2007, tackling a problem that had challenged composers and computer musicians for decades: how to keep software synchronized with a live human performer regardless of tempo, interpretation, or error. The resulting system - combining cutting-edge machine learning for audio with real-time synchronous languages - was deployed in concert halls across Europe and America before it ever shipped in a consumer app.

In 2017, the same research team founded Antescofo the company to bring that technology to the broader market. Metronaut, launched in 2018, became the production proof: the same engine that synchronized live electronics for orchestras now powers real-time accompaniment, performance feedback, and score-following for hundreds of thousands of musicians on iOS, Android, macOS, and the web.

Antescofo Platform makes that engine available to other product teams, without the decade of research investment.

2007

IRCAM research begins

The score-following system starts at IRCAM for real-time computer music performance.

2017

Antescofo becomes a company

The research team forms Antescofo to bring the engine beyond concert halls.

2018

Metronaut launches on iOS

The research engine ships in a consumer app for real-time accompaniment, score following, and feedback.

2024

Metronaut goes multi-platform

The same stack expands across iOS, Android, macOS, and web, proving the engine can support production music workflows beyond a single device ecosystem.

Today

Platform access

The core stack is available as licensable SDKs and APIs for product teams building real-time music interaction, assessment, and semantic music tools.
